CAD UTF8 Display Name changes

This message was shared with members of the Campus AD (Active Directory) Community Teams Channel

Hello, this message impacts any systems that are consuming display name data.

  • With the transition to Workday, displayname in Campus Active Directory will be delivered to systems with UTF8 and increased character limits.
    • UTF8 name data will be the most visible and accurate user-self-selected name.
    • Workday will provide name data as UTF8 with increased character limits. Campus Active Directory (CAD) handles UTF8 characters natively with no issue.
    • This decision was based upon testing that the CAD team conducted with known ancillary systems that are consuming the display name.
  • As you know, the display name field is the default and it is based upon the preferred-name/name in use. Today, the display name is delivered to systems as ASCII.
  • An exact date is being finalized for this transition and we will let you know when that has been determined.
    • When this transition takes place, please validate if there are issues and let us know if any arise.
