Action Needed by February 28: Data View Testing

This communication is being sent to data view owners and associated contacts for legacy data views.

Dear Colleagues,

As a contact for a legacy data view, we are sharing information on the required testing for your legacy data view.

Legacy data views are bespoke, and therefore, the IAM team must make the necessary Workday related updates to each data view individually in the test environment. Then, each data view will be assigned its own two-week testing timeline and must be tested individually by the data view owner.

To Do Now

      1. An accurate technical contact must be listed for each data view. Testing needs to be completed by a technologist to ensure system outages and downtime are minimized.
      1. Be sure to work with your technical contact.
      1. Create a test plan now to ensure you have sufficient time to test during your testing timeline.

To Do Next

After the IAM team emails you with a testing timeline:

To Know

  • The Legacy Dataview Testing_Shared sheet outlines the legacy data views, the associated data view owners, and will list the testing timeline when it is defined for each data view.
  • All legacy data views require testing by the School/ College/ Division that owns that data view (not IAM)
    • It is impossible for the IAM team to know how every system works. If a data view is not tested, then the associated system may not function properly at Workday go-live.
    • The IAM team will have limited capacity to support systems in July 2025.
  • IAM will iterate and provide additional information in the Data View Testing Directions and communicate directly with data view owners via UW Madison ERP Ancillary Systems.

Questions? Most questions can be answered by reviewing the Data View Testing Directions which contains a FAQ section that is continually updated. Please attend an IAM Q&A session.

Thank you,
