This communication is being sent to known users of UW–Madison’s Campus Active Directory Service (CADS) with groups that receive UDDS (Unit, Division, Department, Sub-department) data.
Dear Colleagues,
Campus Active Directory (CAD) departments that receive UDDS directly within CAD will need to transition to a Manifest group that can be published to CAD to receive UDDS data.
Why
- Campus Active Directory groups that receive UDDS data predate Manifest. The UDDS groups directly in CAD are run on legacy technology and will not be maintained starting December 2024.
- These CAD groups use UDDS data provided by a database that is going away.
- When Workday is implemented, Cost Center and Supervisory Organization data will not be directly available in CAD, but it will be available in Manifest. Transitioning to Manifest groups is a necessary step to eventually receive Workday data.
To Do
Transition to Manifest groups to get UDDS data by October 31, 2024. This is an easy and well documented process that you can complete without IAM intervention that leverages Manifest, an easy-to-use tool for managing access to resources for groups of people.
- Use the instructions under the “Directions” tab of the Legacy-UDDS-Groups-In-Use_SHARE sheet
- Complete this by October 31, 2024
- If you are familiar with Manifest, it will only take a few minutes to create a new Manifest group and publish it to CAD.
Next Steps After the transition to Manifest Groups
- After you create your Manifest group, the Identity Access & Management (IAM) team will contact you with additional information on updating your Manifest group to use Supervisory Organization and/or Cost Center as Workday data becomes available.
- These are the instructions previously shared with current Manifest groups that use UDDS data driven groups.
- Effective December 6, 2024 UDDS will be unavailable directly in CAD.
Questions?
- Additional Manifest Resources:
- For questions on IAM resources, please review the IAM Q&A, attend an IAM Q&A Session, and carefully review the “directions” tab, the directions are regularly updated based on feedback/ questions received.
- Work through your assigned Readiness Project Manager or Technical Coach (as applicable).
Thank you,
Identity & Access Management Team
